Cinemawala, Khawto, Eagoler Chokh and Zulfiqar clean sweep all major awards

9th January, 2017, Kolkata: Shree Venkatesh Films are the proud recipients of 13 prestigious awards at West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards 2017 for their films-Cinemawala, Khawto, Eagoler Chokh and Zulfiqar. All four films have won big awards among the significant categories. Cinemawala won the night at WBFJA with multiple awards including the ‘Best Film’ award. ‘Best director’ winner Kaushik Ganguly was extolled highly for his ode to the vanishing single screens, while Paran Bandopadhyay(joint) was named the ‘Best Actor’ for his incredible performance. Sohini Sarkar took home the much deserved ‘Most Promising Actress’ award. ‘Best Sound Designer’ and ‘Best Editor’ awards also went to Anirban Sengupta and Subhojit Singha respectively for Cinemawala.
Zulfiqar, the magnum opus was lauded with several awards. Dev received the ‘Most Popular Actor’ award for his note-worthy performance of differently abled Markaz Ali. ‘Best Actor in Negative Role’ went to Jisshu U Sengupta’s commendable act as the villian Kashinath Kundu. The soulful track Ek Purano Masjide sung by Nachiketa won him the ‘Best Playback Singer’ award. Somnath Kundu won the Best ‘Make up Artist’ award for Zulfiqar.
Eagoler Chokh took home two major awards –‘Best Background Score’ went to Bickram Ghosh for the thrilling tune of Eagoler Chokh and Anirban Bhattacharya was hailed the ‘Most Promising Actor’ of 2017.
Prosenjit Chatterjee received the ‘Best Actor’ (joint) award. The jury praised his unstinting performance as the versatile author Nirbed Lahiri. The award winners were announced at the WBFJA awards ceremony yesterday i.e. 8thJanuary, 2017 at Priya Cinema, Kolkata. With a total of 13 awards to its credit, Shree Venkatesh Films has scored big at West Bengal Film Journalists’ Awards, 2017.
