A Hoichoi Film starring Swastika Mukherjee titled ‘Tasher Ghawr’ announced by Hoichoi

Kolkata, 16^th August 2020 –  hoichoi is back with its latest Original Film named ‘Tasher Ghawr’ with Swastika Mukherjee in the lead, one of the most accomplished actresses of our time. This marks her return to Bengali Entertainment Industry after a year, with this film. As the name suggests, the hoichoi Film has a very unconventional aura around it and Swastika has single-handedly breathed life into the character of “Sujata”.

The Official Poster was released today in an interesting black and white palette with a picture of Swastika Mukherjee smiling directly at the camera. It definitely leaves the audience wanting for more!

Streaming from 3^rd September on hoichoi, Tasher Ghawr is the story of Sujata, a Bengali housewife stuck between the world that is around & within her. This story is about that world. Her home, her search, her “self”. Tasher Ghawr is very different from its counterparts. It has an element of satire.  It is not here to preach but rather uphold the thoughts of a forlorn Swastika, a victim of the apparent patriarchy. She is not exemplary but a grim reality which is projected through her words and actions. This hoichoi film is here to awe and inspire the audience with its unconventional epilogue.

Swastika Mukherjee is a gifted actress who is known to experiment with her characters. Recently, her characters in Paatal Lok and Dil Bechara have garnered immense appreciation. Viewers know her to ace every role while adding a certain trademark spice. In Tasher Ghawr, she will be seen in a different avatar – a woman in her mid-thirties in an upper-middle class household, engrossed in herself, as she moves along in her everyday life.

Tasher Ghawr Announcement Video showcases Sujata, a lady in her mid-thirties with unkempt hair and appearance. She is busy in her kitchen chores, cutting fruits and lost in her own world. As the video progresses, we see Sujata talking to the audience, narrating about her past. She talks about the tree in her erstwhile house and how she wished to get married and build a home with her beloved and how happy she was when her marriage got fixed. After a silent sigh, she has a faint despair on her face, as if hiding some very intense, suppressed emotions of frustration and agony. Sujata seems to enjoy her own company and the company of the fellow inanimate objects surrounding her. The audience will be left quite intrigued to know how the story will progress and how her character will unfold eventually.
