The surprise casting of Durgeshgorer Guptodhon

After Guptodhaner Sandhane, Dhrubo Banerjee is back with his next — Durgeshgorer Guptodhon. The film is an adventure thriller, a sequel to Guptodhoner Sandhane and the second film in the Sonada franchise. While the film stars Abir Chatterjee, Arjun Chakrabarty and Ishaa Saha in the lead, there are many more noted actors in the cast. This time around, the story is set in the backdrop of Durga Puja. During Puja, Sonada, Abir and Jhinuk travel to Durgeshgor, a historical place. It is believed that the zamindar family of Durgeshgor — the Debroys — has a treasure trove that they chanced upon after the Battle of Plassey. The treasure hunt adventure begins when they land in Durgeshgor. Chandrabindoo frontman Anindya Chattopadhyay plays a member of the Debroy family.

Talking about how he landed the role, Anindya said, “Dhrubo showed spark in his very first film. It went on to become a hit and was also loved by everyone. When I met him, he came across as a very amiable person. Later, Dhrubo told me that a character looked similar to me in the film and asked if I would do it. Though acting is not my forte, and I rarely do it, I took up this role,” he told us. Anindya has slipped into the shoes of the elder son of the Debroy family — Pinakpani Debroy — who is a doctor. The singer-filmmaker is back to doing movies as an actor after Praktan. He was earlier seen in Rituparno Ghosh’s Shubho Mahurat and Satyanweshi.
