The shoot of Prosenjit Chatterjee starrer Gumnaami is underway in Purulia. The Srijit Mukherji directorial is a thriller that explores the myth of Gumnaami Baba, who was presumed to be Netaji Subhashchandra Bose in disguise.
Like any thriller music plays a very important role in this film as well. Indraadip Dasgupta is working on the soundtrack as well as the background score of the film. In conversation with a daily about the music Dasgupta revealed that there are four songs in the film all of which have a patriotic flavour. He said, “It has a large orchestral sound and the flavour of typical patriotic music. However, more than the songs, the background music is proving to be more challenging.” “Along with that, we are creating pro-Independence as well as post-Independence sounds and combining that with patriotism. It is a very challenging task,” he added.
Gumnaami was announced on August 18 last year. This was the same day when Netaji was reported to have died in a plane crash in Taiwan. His death still remains one of the most controversial chapters of Indian history. Produced by SVF, the film is expected to release in January 2020.
