Debaloy Bhattacharya’s ‘Dracula Sir’ will see Anirban Bhattacharya pairing up with Mimi Chakraborty for Bengal’s own ‘Dracula’ story and the versatile actor is thrilled to play such a challenging role. He also ensures this film will be unique.
“I just finished shooting for the movie and it has exhausted me completely. It deals with schizophrenia and the film‘s plot parallelly takes place in the present day and the Naxalite movement in 1971. It wasn’t easy for the director or the team, and was very strenuous, as the filming was done mostly late at night. It has left a deep impact on me as an actor, and I will definitely look forward to how the audience reacts to this particular film,” said Anirban.
“Debaloy da’s film will be completely different from the Dracula movies people have seen so far. The Ramsey Brothers’ films used to have this flavour. But I won’t put Dracula Sir in the same genre, it has elements of psychological perspective,” added the ‘Gumnaami’ actor.
‘Dracula Sir’ is the story of a primary school teacher who develops a pair of canine teeth earning the nickname, Dracula Sir. As destiny pushes him towards becoming the vampire he has always been referred to, he has a story to tell from 1971 that makes his journey a tale of finding love and revenge.
Anirban’s successful run at the box office has continued with ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ — the first Bengali blockbuster of the year. So, it will be interesting to see yet another nuanced performance from the acting powerhouse.
