Kolkata, Dec 7(UNI): Ahead of the much-awaited Christmas release of ‘Professor Shanku O El Dorado’, the makers of the film have pioneered the concept of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) in movie promotion to pay ode to the eccentric scientist.
SVF is the first production house in India to use the technologies as part of their film promotions.
Through VR technology, people will get to experience the virtual world while the AR technology will give a partial experience of Prof. Shonku’s world, a character created by legendary Satyajit Ray.
A couple of years ago, the same production house launched a graphic novel while they made ‘Amazon Obhijaan’.
This time, making a forward move, they launched 20-page AR app-driven interactive flipbook titled ‘Professor Shankur Magic Diary’, which is expected to catch the fancy of Prof Shonku fans.
The pages will come alive with the help of ‘Shanku App’ available in Google Play Store and developed by Andreal.
A VR enabled gear will be available across theatres and malls of Kolkata, Science City, Eco Park to virtually move around Shanku’s lab.
Excited with this new form of promotion, Director of the film Sandip Ray said: “When my father created Shanku, he bestowed him with a technological understanding way ahead of his time. Therefore, many years later when we are bringing him alive on the single screen it is fitting that he can be experienced through some of the latest technology like AR and VR.”
‘Professor Shanku O El Dorado’, starring Dhritiman Chatterji as Professor and Subhashish Mukherjee as Nakur Babu will hit the screen this Dec 20 nationally and in Bangladesh.
