According to director Shagufta Rafique, Taxi Driver is a heart-breaking, sorrowful love story that required Yash Dasgupta to become a recluse to prepare for the role.
Actress Mimi Chakraborty released photos of her upcoming release Taxi Driver directed by Hindi film scriptwriter Shagufta Rafique. Rafique’s directorial debut stars Yash Dasgupta as Amir, the protagonist of the film, while Chakraborty essays the character of Pari, his love interest.
Chakraborty released Amir and Pari’s nikaah (marriage) photo on her Twitter, as well as on Instragram account.
According to Rafique, Taxi Driver is a heart-breaking, sorrowful love story that required Dasgupta to become a recluse to prepare for the role.
Dasgupta, who for the first time donned a non-glamorous look, told The Times Of India newspaper, “I personally like clean-shaven look but people are saying I am looking good with the stubble. That apart, I am not going out with friends, not watching television and leading a secluded life to be in the character. Shagufta is holding a workshop as this film is a dark love story and my character has a lot of shades.”
Taxi Driver is Chakraborty and Dasgupta’s second film together after Birsa Dasgupta’s Gangster. The film also stars Shataf Figar in an important role.
“The film is about underworld and I play one of the bosses who run a drug trade, human trafficking and other illegal work. The story and the script are interesting and gripping,” elaborated Figar.
Rafique is known for writing the scripts for Woh Lamhe (2006), Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009), Jism 2 (2012), Ashiqui 2 (2013) and Raaz 3: The Third Dimension (2012). Earlier, she was supposed to make the film with Nusrat Jahan in the lead, instead of Chakraborty.
