After Uma and Ek Je Chhilo Raja, director Srijit Mukherji will treat his fans to his last outing of the year, titled Shah Jahan Regency. While the date has not been announced yet, the film will release in the winters. The director took to Twitter and revealed the first look of the film that created a positive buzz and intrigue among audiences.
Shah Jahan Regency is a contemporary adaptation of Bengali writer Shankar’s 1962 novel, Chowringhee. Based in Chowinghee in the 1950s, the story follows the journey of a young and enterprising man named Shankar. The novel also throws light on the socio-economic and political life of yesteryear Calcutta.
The film stars Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Abir Chatterjee, Anjan Dutta, Rituparna Sengupta, Swastika Mukherjee, Rittika Sen and Anirban Bhattacharya. It will be produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni’s Shree Venkatesh Films Entertainment and Mukherji’s Matchcut Productions. Music has been given by Anupam Roy and Indraadip Das Gupta.
We cannot wait to watch if Shah Jahan Regency will also turn out to be a major critical and commercial success like his previous films.
