Srijit Mukherji is on cloud nine and why not? His two blockbusters from last year, ‘Ek Je Chhilo Raja’ and ‘Uma’ have just earned him three prestigious awards. While ‘Ek Je Chhilo Raja’ has won the Best Actor for Jisshu Sengupta and Best Director awards, another runaway hit ‘Uma’ has won the Best Music award at the NABC Bengali Film Festival 2019 in Baltimore.
Over the last few years, despite the commercial success Srijit Mukherji was giving, many were not that happy with few of his recent films. But last year with two back to back runaway hits ‘Uma’ and ‘Ek Je Chhilo Raja’ Srijit returned to his best. Even his haters can’t ignore his sere dedication for his work. Whether it’s a fake Durga Puja for ‘Uma’ or revisiting a historical period for ‘Ek Je Chhilo Raja’, he did it with ease. Both the movies turned out to be box office smashers at the same time creating waves in a number of film festivals as well.
Meanwhile, he has already delivered a blockbuster this year with the thriller ‘Vinci Da’. Srijit is now all geared up for his next, one of his most ambitious projects, ‘Gumnaami’, a film based on Gumnami Baba, the godman who has often been rumoured to be Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in disguise.
