Srijit Mukherji’s much-anticipated thriller ‘Gumnaami’ has finally hit the theatres on October 2. The film is based on the famous Mukherjee Commission hearings where the three theories about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s alleged death were debated. ‘Gumnaami’ follows the myth surrounding Gumnaami Baba, an ascetic from Uttar Pradesh who was often rumoured to be Netaji in disguise. Starring Prosenjit Chatterjee in the titular role, the film sees Anirban Bhattacharya playing a print journalist Chandrachur Dhar and Tnusree Chakraborty as his wife.
But how many of you know ‘Gumnaami’ has been dubbed in Hindi by some renowned Bollywood actors. Ashish Vidyarthi has dubbed for Netaji and Gumnaami Baba, Kay Kay Menon has dubbed for Chandrachur Dhar, while Gauahar Khan and Adah Sharma have voiced Ronita and Leela Roy respectively.
Interestingly Kay Kay was very much interested in doing the film. “Initially, when Gumnaami was supposed to be made in Hindi, Kay Kay had read the script. He wanted to play Chandrachur Dhar. It’s a great coincidence that he is dubbing for the same character in Hindi,” Srijit had earlier told us.
