Bhaichung plays coach to Dev

Bhaichung Bhutia is one of Dev’s favourite footballers and the actor was thrilled when the striker became his football coach for an hour. On Sunday, Bhaichung taught the actor how to dribble, as Dev is going to play Nagendra Prasad Sarbadhikari — the father of Indian Football in Dhrubo Banerjee’s next, titled, Golondaaj. Just before catching the 9.30 am flight to his hometown in Sikkim on Sunday, Bhaichung was at Salt Lake football ground to teach few football techniques to Dev. “I am practising football for the past few days, but was facing some difficulties that I was not being able to overcome. I want to look authentic as a footballer on screen. So, taking tips from a footballer like him was very important. When I told Bhaichung the problems I am facing while coordinating the mind and the body, he cracked it in a minute and showed me how to go about it. Coordination between your mind and body, and with the other players is very important while playing football. He taught me how to do that. He asked me to buy a plastic football and practice at home. The session was more important to me mentally than physically. The tips he gave me are something I will follow for the coming month before the film goes on the floors. What I liked about him is his patience. I guess I asked him more than 50 questions about the game and he explained each one with a smile,” said Dev.
