While Aparna Sen’s latest directorial ‘Ghawre Bairey Aaj’ continues to win audience hearts running successfully at theatres here’s another piece of good news for the socio-political drama. It recently won as many as four awards at the Telangana Bengali Film Festival 2019. The awards are for:
Best Actor (Jury): Jisshu Sengupta and Anirban Bhattacharya
Best Cinematographer (Jury): Soumik Haldar
Best Director (Popular): Aparna Sen
Best Actor (Popular): Anirban Bhattacharya
Surely it’s high time for Aparna Sen who has said this film is her most politically outspoken work till date.
Produced by SVF, ‘Ghawre Bairey Aaj’ is inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s novel, ‘Ghare Baire’ (Home and the World), and narrates a contemporary retelling of the triangular love story involving Tagore’s characters Nikhilesh, Sandeep and Bimala. Starring Jisshu Sengupta, Anirban Bhattacharya and Tuhina Das in the lead the socio-political drama released on November 15.
Aparna Sen had earlier revealed the idea for her latest directorial ‘Ghawre Bairey Aaj’ struck her after celebrated journalist Gauri’s Lankesh’s murder in September 2017.
