Raj Chakraborty’s ‘Adventures Of Jojo’ promises to deliver all the fun and thrills of an engaging adventure film. The child artistes Joshojit Banerjee and Samiul Alam reflect a touch of innocence and Raj Chakraborty looks like have invested a lot of efforts with some terrific special effects recreating the wildlife scenario. He has also given Samiul an interesting look reminiscent of Mowgli from Kipling’s famous ‘The Jungle Book’. As we have seen in the trailer, the conflict between the villains (including a notorious poacher played by Rudranil Ghosh) and the protagonists guides you to the good old days of children’s adventure books. The film hits the theatres today and before you watch it here are some interesting facts you shouldn’t miss.
Raj Chakraborty’s children adventure drama has already set the mood for an exciting Christmas. Be it the engaging trailer or high-octane music, the film promises to be box office hit. When we asked what’s unique in the story of ‘Adventures Of Jojo’, Raj explains the friendship he has shown between his two little protagonists transcends the social class. “I always focus on making films on a large scale that include plenty of drama, whether it’s romance, thriller, action or even sports. Here Jojo is on a mission to save a tiger named Chengiz with the help of his friend Shibu. Jojo is basically a city bred boy and his unique friendship with Shibu, a rustic son of a mahout somehow transcends the social class. It’s an intriguing story of friendship, adventure, tiger poaching and wildlif….
It’s his first children’s film. The movie has an original story and it looks every bit intriguing. So, there will be a lot of expectations from him. Raj’s last direction ‘Bolo Dugga Maiki’ starring Ankush and Nusrat from last year was a big disappointment at the box office. So, it will be interesting to see how good he delivers this time. For director Raj Chakraborty, it’s not only an adventure film, it also focuses on friendship. “I have made almost all kinds of films, but making a children’s film like Tom Ling has always been my dream project. Though ‘Adventures Of Jojo’ mainly shows a lot about wildlife, it focuses on friendship as well,” said the ace filmmaker during a recent interview.
With ‘Adventures Of Jojo’ Joshojit Banerjee, the son of popular actor Joyjit Banerjee, is making his debut in Bengali cinema. The young boy, who plays the titular character Jojo, brought freshness to the entire team surviving an extremely busy schedule in the hot days of Arunachal Pradesh. His adorable antics and unbelievable energy makes everyone fall in love with him. Yes, he is naughty but not a problem child. On the other hand, you have ‘Shahaj Paather Gappo’ fame Shamiul Alam playing Jojo’s friend Shibu who promises a genuine performance.
Children films are rare phenomena in Bengali cinema but this film promises to entertain kids. “Initially I was really upset that I couldn’t make Tongling as it was my dream project. I started reading many books on wildlife during that time and found a book written by an Assamese writer Arup Dutta. An idea struck me which planned to develop into a script along with my friend actor-scriptwriter Padmanava Dasgupta and that’s how ‘Adventures of Jojo’ happened,” said the director while speaking about the film.
It’s his dream project. Raj Chakraborty has put in a lot of effort in making ‘Adventures Of Jojo’. Yet when the trailer came out, Raj was shocked to hear people saying this film is a copy. “I was shocked to hear such allegations. After the trailer came out, some people from the industry started spreading rumours that’s ‘Adventures Of Jojo’ is copied from another film and I knew where from it all started. These days social media have a vital role in influencing public views. It literally shocked me. People have seen me making mainstream potboilers and they couldn’t digest the fact that my next is a children’s film, a multiplex oriented one. I don’t know how people can feel so insecure. Frankly speaking, I haven’t faced such a situation like these before.
