SVF Announces 25 New Bengali Films for the Next Three Years

Kolkata: In probably the biggest investment from any production house ever in these parts of the country, SVF will invest ₹100 crore in 25 new Bengali films, over the next three years.

Unveiling the company’s plans in the city today, SVF co-founder Mahendra Soni said, “We plan to bring all leading filmmakers in Bengal under one roof.”

The films announced include Arindam Sil’s Byomkesh Gotro, Birsa Dasgupta’s Crisscross and Bibaho Obhijaan, Anjan Dutt’s Ami Ashbo Phire and Finally Bhalobasa, Mainak Bhowmick’s Generation Ami, Srijit Mukherji’s Kakababur Protyaborton, and debutant director Dhrubo Banerjee’s Guptodhoner Sondhane.

That aside, director Kamaleshwar Mukherjee is all set to take the Chander Pahar series forward with the third film of the popular franchise.

Mahendra Soni said, “We will expand into Bangladesh with a film starring Shakib Khan and Nusrat Jahan. It will be directed by Raj Chakraborty.”

All our new Bengali films, he claimed, will have international quality production values.

Srijit, meanwhile, is ready to release Uma. His next, Ek Je Chhilo Raja, will release in Puja this year. Both films have been produced by SVF.

Raj Chakraborty will also direct the period-piece Siraj-ud-Daulah. He is presently working on the script of the film.

Byomkesh Gotro is adapted from Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s Rokter Daag. Arjun Chakraborty plays Satyakam in the film.
