Makes its mark at NABC – IBFA & Mahanayak Samman 2017 with a whopping 11 awards
Kolkata, 2nd August, 2017 – SVF, Eastern India’s largest media and entertainment conglomerate, has bagged a string of awards in different categories for Bengali films in the prestigious 37th NABC (North American Bengali Conference) at International Bangla Film Awards (IBFA Awards) held in July in the Silicon Valley, and, more recently, at “Mahanayak Samman, 2017”, instituted in honour of the legendary Mahanayak Uttam Kumar.
While SVF was awarded for ‘Outstanding contribution to the Tollygunge film industry’ at IBFA, four of the popular films produced by SVF, received awards in different categories.
The NABC-IBFA Best Actor and Best Actress awards (Commercial) went to Dev and Nusrat Jahan respectively, for their roles in SVF’s ‘Zulfiqar’ under the Bengali film category. Anirban Bhattacharya got the NABC-IBFA Best Debutant award for his role in ‘Eagoler Chokh’, another film from the SVF stable. Arindam Sil bagged the Best Director award for SVF’s much-talked-about ‘Byomkesh Pawrbo’.
Apart from garnering international recognition, SVF and its films have won a gaggle of awards back home as well. While Prosenjit Chatterjee got the Best Actor award for ‘Zulfiqar’ at Mahanayak Samman, the Best Actress win for the same film went to Nusrat Jahan. Arindam Sil was hailed as the Best Director for Bengali films such as SVF’s ‘Byomkesh Pawrbo’ and ‘Eagoler Chokh’.
Bickram Ghosh and Padmanabha Dasgupta got the Best Music and Best Script awards respectively for three movies including ‘Byomkesh Pawrbo’ and ‘Eagoler Chokh’. The Best DOP award went to Soumik Haldar for ‘Byomkesh Pawrbo’, ‘Eagoler Chokh’ and ‘Zulfiqar’, all SVF’s productions.
