CAST REVEAL OF BYOMKESH GOWTRO

Kolkata, 16^th May 2018 – SVF and director Arindam Sil’s, Puja release, Byomkesh Gowtro cast has been finalised and the shoot is all set to begin from 6^th June onwards.

Abir Chatterjee is back donning the hat of Satyanweshi Byomkesh Bakshi after a two year hiatus and so is Sohini Sarkar who returns as the quintessential Satyabati, the better half of the sleuth.

However, Arindam Sil’s Byomkesh Gowtro greets us with a bagful of surprises. Byomkesh’s constant companion in resolving any crime has always been Ajit and this time the character of the famous writer and partner to Satyanweshi will be enacted by none other than actor Rahul Banerjee. This is the first time Rahul would be seen onscreen as Ajit.

Byomkesh Gotro which is inspired from Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s ‘Rakter Daag’ has Satyakam as an integral character in the film and would be played by the talented Arjun Chakraborty. Arjun will be seen in a challenging role as a wealthy Casanova for the first time.

The surprise in the casting does not end here. The icing on the cake comes with the presence of thespian director – actor Anjan Dutt who had previously directed films on the Satyanweshi. Anjan Dutt for the first time joins hands with director Arindam Sil to play the character of Ushapoti Das, Satyakam’s father, in the film.

The music for the film will be accomplished by maestro Bickram Ghosh and the costumes for the film are fashioned by designer Abhishek Roy.

It starts with a young man of 25 years who comes to Byomkesh’s Kolkata home, introduces himself as son of a business magnet from Landour, Mussourie and says he feels that his life is threatened. He wants Byomkesh to investigate the matter. The advance that he gives is too magnamous to be ignored. Byomkesh reaches Landour to find Satyakam, the young man has already been murdered. Now, Byomkesh Bakshi has to solve the crime.

Director Arindam Sil, positive about the casting of the film goes on to say – “Byomkesh Gowtro has the most phenomenal cast that any Byomkesh film has ever witnessed. Abir Chatterjee will be seen in a never seen before avatar. This will be the most intriguing film in the entire Byomkesh series.”

Byomkesh Gowtro, produced by SVF and  directed by Arindam Sil is inspired from the story ‘Rakter Daag’ of the Byomkesh series by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. It is scheduled to release around Puja 2018.
