SVF releases the official teaser ‘Ek Je Chhilo Raja’

Kolkata, 13th August 2018 – The Official Teaser of much awaited film- ‘Ek Je Chhilo Raja’ released on the eve of the 72nd death anniversary of the Bhawal Sanyasi Raja to commemorate the event on whose life the film is based on. The story of “Ek Je Chhilo Raja” describes the fascinating story of more than two decades and takes us back to that time when an extended court case in search of truth made the whole nation stay in awe.

The power-packed teaser starts with a simple yet consequential statement: “Laws dictate judgements. But some judgements become the law” referring to one the most cited cases in the legislative world – The Bhawal Sanyasi Court Case from which Srijit Mukherji’s Pujo release is inspired. The teaser goes on to reveal in bits and pieces the silhouette of a Sanyasi whose entire body is pockmarked with scars and besmeared with ashes. In the background are heard the voices of a legal advisor demanding to know the identity of another man who claims himself to be “Maharaja Mahendra Kumar Chowdhury”, thus giving us a sneak-peak into the most intriguing royal courtroom battle in history – Ek Je Chhilo Raja (The Imposter Prince).

Speaking about the teaser and his upcoming release Srijit Mukherji goes on to say: “The Bhawal Sanyasi court cases is the most referred cases in history and has always attracted several literary and creative people. Ek Je Chhilo Raja is my tribute to that great king who rose from the ashes to win back his kingdom and kinsmen and will narrate the true events that happened in between his life and death.”

Ek Je Chhilo Raja is the story of Mahendra Kumar Choudhuri, the middle prince of Tthe Bhawal Estate (also named as Bikrampur  Estate) , who was affected by syphilis and was taken  to Darjeeling for treatment along with his wife, Chandrabati  Devi , brother in law, Satya and a family doctor, Ashwini.He apparently died in Darjeeling and was cremated there as well.

After 12 years, a Sanyasi comes back to the estate where people start noticing him and a rumour spreads that he is the lost prince of Bikrampur estate.

The film directed by Srijit Mukherji featuring Jisshu U Sengupta, Jaya Ahsan, Anjan Dutt, Aparna Sen, Anirban Bhattacharya, Rudranil Ghosh, Barun Chanda & Rajnandini Paul among others is scheduled to release on 12^th October 2018.
