For those of you who are movie and television series lovers and are looking to know, which are the best streaming platforms in the country, look no further. Here is a guide on the 10 major OTT platforms available in the country.
1. Disney+Hotstar
Let’s kick off the first one in the list with the biggest OTT service in the country. It provides free content to view on its app/website but also has two paid subscription plans.
(i) VIP – which focuses on domestic programs and some sports content (Including the Premier League and Bundesliga – English and German football leagues). It costs ₹399 for a year long subscription.
(ii) Premium – which provides it’s entire library featuring original content from both Hotstar, Disney, HBO and Showtime along with all the features available in VIP as well (The Indian Premier League also showed through this service). It costs ₹299 for a month long subscription and ₹1499 for a year long one.
2. Netflix
As the largest subscription platform in the world, its price matches its reach and content. It has essentially only one subscription plan, where you pay more for increasing access to multiple devices. But after coming to India, Netflix introduced a mobile only plan to make the subscription more accessible to the casual user.
(i) Mobile Plan – ₹199/month
(ii) Basic Plan – ₹499/month (Only 1 screen at a time)
(iii) Standard Plan – ₹649/month (2 screens at a time)
(iv) Premium Plan – ₹799/month (4 screens at a time)
Netflix also takes Rs.5 for a one-time access to check out its services for one month.
3. Amazon Prime Video
As part of the big three OTT companies in the world, after Netflix and Disney+, Amazon Prime Video has taken the OTT market in India by storm with its original content and very extensive library. Prime Video has a one year plan and a month plan.

4. Sony Liv
This South Asian VOD service is available in India and Pakistan. This streaming service is primarily accessed by people who want to watch Bollywood films or International sporting events. They have slowly started increasing their library, and creating their own original content.

(iii) One year plan – ₹999
5. Zee5
This 2018 launched VOD has been running strong and has gradually been picking up subscriptions over the past 2 years. It provides access to Television series and movies before they come out on their TV channels first.

(ii) Zee5 Premium Subscription per month – ₹99 (for 5 screens)
(iii) Zee5 Premium Subscription per year – ₹999 (for 5 screens)
Zee5 also provides access to some free content for consumers.
6. ALTBalaji
This OTT service is available on 32 different interfaces for its viewers. With one of the largest content banks in the country, ALTBalaji provides 2 subscription plans for its users.

7. YouTube Premium
This World-wide free video sharing platform has started its own subscription based model. It provides ad free services and free access to latest music and music videos, along with their original content. It provides a month free subscription which can be followed by :
(i) ₹139 for one month subscription
(ii) ₹399 for three months subscription
8. Eros Now
One of the oldest Indian subscription based OTT, Eros Now provides access on most Internet-connected screens including mobile, laptops and Television. It provides content varying from English and Hindi to regional languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, etc. Eros Now also provides free content to access on its streaming service but its premium subscription provides its entire library.

9. HoiChoi
This is one of the two main popular regional content providing OTT service which also provides content around its region – primarily acting as a Bengali OTT streaming service. It provides content in Bengali and English mainly but also provides other language content as well.

10. Aha Video
This is other one of the two main popular regional content providing OTT service which also provides content around its region – primarily acting as a Telugu OTT streaming service. It also gives content from multiple South-Indian regions as well, but primarily streams in Telugu and English.

Special mentions have to be given to MX Player and BIGFlix for their libraries and content. They are two of the oldest subscription services in the country (in BIGFlix case, it is the oldest) and has been providing content for at least 9 years. TVF also deserves a special mention as they are the highest subscribed YouTube channel in India (and the world). They regularly put out their own original content and provides free access to most of its content.
