Srijit Mukherji’s much-anticipated film Uma had its first screening at the New York Indian Film Festival recently and received a very positive response. The consul general of India was present at the screening and expressed his views about the film on Twitter. The tweet read, “’Uma’ by Srijit Mukherji premiered at New York Film Festival today. It is an inspired and inspiring film about hope and optimism. As Srijit himself said after the screening only love can make things happen and transform out world. A film to watch and talk about”.
The feedback has given the director all the reasons to be elated and proud. “After Autograph in 2010 and Rajkahini in 2015, this is my third film that had a screening at the festival. I am happy that people from the US have liked it,” he told us. He also mentioned that the screening was followed by a through Q&A session, where he faced a hard time explaining the concept of Akal Bodhon to the American viewers.
