If all goes according to plan, Srijit Mukherji’s latest release ‘Uma’, inspired by Evan Leversage’s real-life battle with cancer, will be screened at the late 7-year old boy’s hometown St George in Canada.
During a recent interview, Evan’s mother Nicole Wellwood reportedly said initiatives have been taken to organize a special screening of ‘Uma’ for the people of St George. The town has a small park with a bench in the memory of Evan which overlooks the park. Nicole believes it will be an ideal location for the screening. It’s just like bringing Uma to the special place where Evan still lives in the memory of St George. It will be no doubt a memorable occasion in her life.
Evan wanted to celebrate one last Christmas as the doctors suggested he may not live till December 25 and in an unbelievable act of solidarity, the people of St George staged the Christmas for Evan on October 24. The whole town was decorated for a grand Christmas celebration. A company reportedly took the responsibility to spread out snow in front of Evan’s house in order to forge a Christmas feeling. Sadly, Evan breathed his last on December 8, 2015.
Meanwhile, Srijit Mukherji’s ‘Uma’ has Sara Sengupta in the titular role. Her character is suffering from a terminal disease and has only a few days left to live.
