‘Uma’: Sayantika Banerjee opens up about her character in the film

Srijit Mukherji’s ‘Uma’ stars Jisshu and Sara Sengupta playing the father-daughter duo in the film while actress Sayantika Banerjee will be seen playing the role of Sara’s mother. Sayantika opens up about her character in the film.

The actress reportedly said although the audience might hate her character initially, they will eventually realise why Uma’s (Sara) mother had to do the things she did. Director Srijit Mukherji has balanced the character very well. She further added that if you want to describe ‘Uma’ in three words it will be – emotional, beautiful and ultimate.

The much-anticipated Bengali drama will release on June 1. The popular Durga Puja of Kolkata is basically ‘Akal Bodhon’ – the untimely awakening of Goddess Durga and ‘Uma’ deals with an untimely Puja celebration as some a group of people join hands to create the magic Durgotsav in the month of March.

This is the first time when Jisshu and Sara Sengupta, the real-life father-daughter duo, will be seen as the father and daughter on the screen too.
