Who doesn’t love Eken Babu? The Bengali sleuth with an unusual comic appearance has become a household name ever since he was introduced through the hit web series franchise. And now, Eken Babu is set to make his big-screen debut this summer. Anirban Chakraborti is reprising his role as the popular detective.

Recently, the official teaser of the upcoming detective thriller, directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, was dropped online and it instantly grabbed attention. The short video clip gives a sneak peek into detective Ekenbabu’s adventure in the hills as he tried to solve a murder mystery.

We are more familiar with suave, serious sleuths. Not often do we get to see a detective character that comes with comic relief and most importantly his passion for food. But, in the teaser, as we see he is in a serious mood in the middle of an investigation, along with his two sidekicks, played by Suhotra Mukhopadhyay and Somak Ghosh.

You won’t get too many hints about the storyline in the teaser as Joydeep decides to keep the suspense alive. It looks like Eken and his friends meet some suspicious characters while enjoying their vacation in the hills. The teaser also comes with a tense note to keep the excitement level intact.

Also featuring Paayel Sarkar and Debasish Mondal in key roles, ‘The Eken’ is set to release in theatres on 14 April celebrating the auspicious occasion of Bengali New Year.
