After popular franchises like Byomkesh, Shabor, Kakababu, Feluda, Shankar and Professor Shonku, a new one is being introduced to Bengal audience. Action, grey matter and wit — Dhrubo Banerjee’s directorial debut Guptodhoner Sondhane has all the right elements for an adventure film. The film stars Abir Chatterjee, Arjun Chkraborty, Ishaa Saha, Kamaleswar Mukherjee, Arindam Sil and others. The protagonist of the story, Sona da (played by Abir) is a qualified professor in History. He returns to Kolkata from England after seven years. Speaking of the film, Abir said, “What’s interesting is that the film does not aim to reconstruct known stories and characters from literature. It gives birth to new characters. And that’s where the challenge to make it popular, lies. It’s an original script sprinkled with generous amount of Bangaliyana. It’s a film that one can enjoy with everyone in the family. It also touches upon nostalgia.”
Speaking of his character, Abir further added, “My character, Subarna Sen, is jovial and loves thrill. Which is why he gets involved in the treasure hunt. He has a great sense of humour and is the kind of guy most people idolise.”
