Laboratory — a Hoichoi Original Film, was released yesterday to commemorate the 157th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. The film is based on a story by the same name written by Tagore, whose birthday is generally celebrated on 9 May, following his birthday in the Bengali calendar.
The film features Kaushik Sen, Darshana Banik, Anirban Bhattacharya and Nandini Ghosal in the lead roles. In the film, railway engineer Nandakishore Malik (Sen), dreams of an independent nation where scientists will be able to carry on with their researches without any financial difficulties. He sets up a laboratory and buys the necessary instruments. He gets married to a Punjabi woman called Sohini (Ghosal), who gives birth to a daughter, who they name Neela.
As Nandakishore dies, Sohini starts looking for a suitable young man to hand over the responsibility of the laboratory. She comes across Rebati (Bhattacharya), a promising fellow with a passion for science. She also discovers that he is smitten by Neela’s charm.
As Sohini appoints him to take care of the laboratory, Rebati’s association with Neela only distracts him from his duties. At the same time, Neela also gets caught in a tussle of inheriting her property.
Laboratory is SVF Entertainment Pvt Ltd’s second original release. Their first launch was Ami Vs Tumi by Mainak Bhowmick.
