While his latest release ‘Vinci Da’ continues to win the audience since its release on April 12, Srijit Mukherji’s another masterpiece ‘Nirbaak’ today completes 4 years. Released in 2015, it’s definitely a shocking experiment ahead of its time.
The film explores love and emotions between people and living or non-living things which can’t speak in a traditional way. ‘Nirbaak’ encapsulates four underlying sub-plots connected by a single character of a woman (played by Sushmita Sen).
We have seen emotions towards a non-living object from a human being depicted brilliantly in Ritwik Ghatak’s cult classic ‘Ajantrik’. ‘Nirbaak’, however, is completely in a different league. It’s not just an amalgamation of simple everyday emotions that we see between people, but the actual, core essence of love.
Anjan Dutt, Sushmita Sen, Ritwick Chakraborty, and especially the dog – all of them did an exceptional job. It was surprising to see how Srijit Mukherji churned out such great, natural, touching performance from the female dog! As always, Ritwick Chakraborty seemed effortless in his dialogue throwing, expressions. With him, it doesn’t look like he’s acting at all, it feels he just naturally behaves in many ways depending on the narrative.
