Kolkata, Dec 19(UNI): How much a novel is pertinent for a filmmaker, who is going to adapt thee?
Ace filmmaker Srijit Mukherji answered the question in a unique manner. Motion poster of Srijit’s upcoming ‘Shah Jahan Regency’ unveiled like a mirror effect of the cover of Mani Shankar Mukherjee’s cult novel ‘Chowringhee’. Needless to say that ‘Shah Jahan Regency’ is an authorised and apposite reconstruction of novel ‘Chowringhee’.
Through his social media account Srijit said, “Check in to love. Check in to pain. Check in to betrayal. Check in to…Shah Jahan Regency.”
‘Chowringhee’, is all set to hit the silver screen on January 18 next. This is for the first time Srijit Mukherji is co-producing and presenting his own film under his banner ‘Match Cut’ along with SVF. Earlier the release date was finalised at December 21 this year but keeping the release of Pavel’s ‘Rosogolla’ in mind Srijit sacrifices the slot and shifted his release.
‘Shah Jahan Regency’ has an ensemble starcast of stalwarts like Mamata Shankar, Anjan Dutt, Rituparna Sengupta along with Abir Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee, Babul Supriyo, Kanchan Mallick, Rudranil Ghosh, Rittika Sen in important roles.
Anupam Roy and Indradip Dasgupta scored the music of the film.
