After giving a successful run in theatres, Srijit Mukherji’s Vinci Da is all set to travel abroad now. The film has been selected at the London Indian Film Festival, where it will be screened on June 21 and 25.
“This is one of the most prestigious festivals. Of course, it is an exciting news for us. Also, Vinci Da has been running successfully in theatres. It has garnered appreciation from different quarters,” Srijit told us.
This is not the first time Srijit’s film will be screened at the LIFF — the largest festival for South Asian films in Europe. Earlier, his Autograph, Baishey Shrabon and Uma were also screened there. The festival that is schedule to start on June 22, will also screen Anubhab Sinha’s Article 15, Ritesh Batra’s Photograph, Rima Das’s Bulbul Can Sing and more. Anurag Kashyap, Radhika Apte, Gurinder Chadha and several others will be present at the do.
Meanwhile, Vinci Da had a stretch of 22 consecutive houseful shows at Nandan. “While getting houseful shows at Nandan is not a rare sight, 22 consecutive shows are something interesting,” Srijit told us.
Vinci Da stars Ritwick Chakraborty, Rudranil Ghosh, Anirban Bhattacharya and Sohini Sarkar in prominent roles. Besides portraying the lead, Rudranil has also penned the story with Srijit. This is Srijit’s second film with Sohini after Rajkahini. The director has already announced another film with Sohini — the biopic of heptathlete Swapna Burman, who made the country proud by winning gold in the Asian Games.
