After the success of his first treasure hunt film, Guptodhoner Sondhane, Dhrubo Banerjee is back with the second instalment of the series. In Durgeshgorer Guptodhon, Professor Subarna Sen aka Sona Da (Abir Chatterjee) will be seen visiting one of his students’ ancestral mansion in Durgeshgor. Accompanying the history professor will be Abir (Arjun Chakrabarty) and Jhinuk (Ishaa Saha). There, the trio join in the festivities and stumble upon the lost clues that may lead them to unearthing one of the greatest treasures of Bengal.
While the ladies drool over Sona Da’s suave look, the youngsters wait eagerly for the ‘prototype dada’. The older generation is all praise for Sona Da too. So, what has made Sona Da everyone’s favourite in such a short span of time? “I feel that unlike the other literary characters, Sona Da is more like that dada who is present in all Bengali households, whom we look up to and who is within our reach. Added to that, people can relate to Sona Da easily, which I believe is the prime reason for his popularity,” said Abir.
Guptodhoner Sondhane spoke about a known phase of history from the Mughal era. Yet the core segment of the hidden treasure of Shah Suza was lesser known. “This theme of exploring lesserknown chapters of our known history will continue in this sequel too,” the actor added.
Along with the director, Arjun and Ishaa had a blast while shooting for the film in Jhargram. From meeting local artists to enjoying the native khejur rosh and exploring the place, the cast had a gala time. “We shot in two to three-degree temperature and the pristine beauty of Jhargram made us speechless. The jungle there is a sheer beauty. For 10 days, we stayed at the rajbari where we were shooting. It was a royal indulgence for my cast,” said Dhrubo.
Arjun, who enjoyed every bit of the Jhargram shoot, said, “It was a pleasant change to shoot at such an unexplored place. And the weather too was brilliant. I am not a foodie at all, but this film has turned me into one.”
For Ishaa the shoot was so much fun that at one point the actress forgot she was at work. “The entire unit is so energetic that I never felt that I was working. The picturesque Jhargram is a place to die for,” she said.
