Sandip ray has high hopes for ‘Professor Shanku O El Dorado’

The official trailer of the most sought-after Bengali film of this year ‘Professor Shanku O El Dorado’ has already created a razzmatazz among cine buffs. The sci-fi adventure flick is based on Satyajit Ray’s iconic character ‘Professor Shanku’, an impeccably genius physicist who became famous for his far-reaching inventions and adventures, and the literary character has delighted readers for generations.

Speaking about the trailer and his upcoming release director Sandip Ray said, “This is the first time we are bringing my father’s creation Professor Shanku alive on screen and I’m very excited about the same. Shanku is a larger than life literary character that is known across the world and I’m hoping that the audience will love the film as much as they loved literary Shanku.”

While veteran actor Dhritiam Chatterjee plays the titular character of Professor Shanku, Subhasish Mukhopadhyay will be seen as Nokurbabu.

Dhritiman Chatterjee is also well aware how challenging it will be to match the expectations of Bengali audience. “The main problem was to adjust Shonku to the modern world as time and surroundings of Shonku have changed completely. I have to play the character keeping in mind every minute detail mentioned in the original stories. But I am also thankful to Sandip Ray for giving me the opportunity to enact such an iconic character,” explained the noted actor.

‘Professor Shanku O El Dorado’ also stars American actors Paolo Ricardo Xavier, Roney Facchini and Fernando Borges De Souza among others. Produced by SVF, the film is scheduled for a Christmas release.
