Riddhi Sen in Srijit Mukherji’s thriller

    Dec 9, 2018 Publication : TNN

Srijit Mukherji has already wrapped up the shoot of Vinci Da, his third thriller after Baishe Srabon and Chotushkone. The announced cast included names like Ritwick Chakraborty, Rudranil Ghosh, Anirban Bhattacharya and Sohini Sarkar. But packing a punch in the film will also be Riddhi Sen in a guest appearance.

Said the young actor, “Both my parents have worked with Srijitda. While my father (Kaushik Sen) did Zulfiqar and Rajkahini, my mother is part of Ek Je Chhilo Raja. This August, we travelled to a film festival abroad where he told me about the role. He had wanted to work with me and even if this isn’t a major role, it’s integral to the narrative. My mother has a bit role in Ek Je Chhilo Raja, but it’s still very interesting. The best part is that he makes sure that his characters leave an impact, the screen time notwithstanding.”

Riddhi, who is tight-lipped about the role, said it will surprise the audience. Even though he hasn’t taken up too many projects at this time, he is looking forward to the release of Nagarkirtan. After bagging four National Awards this year, including Best Actor for Riddhi, the film travelled to IFFI, Goa, recently. “The website of the film festival mentioned me alongside Varun Dhawan (for October) in its Day 5 highlights. That was very encouraging. Even though director Kaushik Ganguly could not make it to IFFI this year, I was there with the film’s producer. The film was screened at the biggest theatre in Panjim and it was a housefull show. I heard there were a lot of queries for the screening. I received a very positive response from the audience there,” he said.

Riddhi said after Nagarkirtan and Helicopter Eela, he is taking things slow. “I don’t want to rush into any project for the sake of doing films. The final show of our successful play, Taraye Taraye, will be held at the Nandikar Festival and I will start rehearsing for our next, which is based on Utpal Dutt’s Ekla Cholo Re,” he said. Riddhi said even if he is a tad sad as Taraye Taraye is nearing closure, he is looking forward to playing Gandhiji’s elder son, Hiralal, on stage.
