After teasing the fans for months Srijit Mukherji has finally come up with the much-anticipated teaser of his Puja release ‘Gumnaami’ which deals with a mysterious sadhu baba from Ghaziabad who was often speculated as the Indian revolutionary Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose himself in disguise.
The intense teaser begins with the voice of Netaji (portrayed by Prosenjit Chatterjee) who is making an oath to Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi) seeking his blessings and assuring he would return only after securing India’s independence from the British colonial rule.
The teaser also traces the root of many theories on the mysterious death of Netaji as they are being narrated to Mukherjee Commission by Chandrachur Dhar (Anirban Bhattacharya).
As per the first theory, he died on August 18, 1945 in a plane crash in Taiwan which remains as the official theory till now. The second theory hints that he escaped to Russia and was then captured and killed in a prison. Lastly, the third theory states he escaped plane crash, returned to India and lived in disguise as an ascetic.
The teaser ends with an interesting note. It states during Bengal’s biggest festival, Durga Puja, the Bengali audience will be there to seek the answers behind one of the greatest conspiracies in Indian history.
Produced by SVF, ‘Gumnaami’ is releasing on October 2.
