Not just Bollywood, it is raining clashes in Tollywood too. The latest to join the league is Shree Venkatesh Films Entertainment’s feature drama Shah Jahan Regency and Window Productions’ period film Rosogolla. News has it that both the films are eyeing a December 21, 2018 release. Srijit Mukherji’s Shah Jahan Regency is a contemporary adaptation of Bengali writer Shankar’s 1962 novel, Chowringhee. Based in Chowinghee in the 1950s, the story follows the journey of a young and enterprising man named Shankar. The novel also throws light on the socio-economic and political life of yesteryear Calcutta.
After Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jisshu Sengupta stepped down, Abir Chatterjee and Parambrata Chattopadhyay have been roped in to play the parallel leads. The film also stars Rituparna Sengupta, Swastika Mukherjee, Anjan Dutt, Anirban Bhattacharya, Rudranil Ghosh, Babul Supriyo, Rittika Sen and Mamata Shankar in pivotal roles. The shoot for Shah Jahan Regency is currently underway in Kolkata. The director is planning to wrap the film within 19 days flat. The film will be produced by Shree Venkatesh Films Entertainment.
Pavel’s second film Rosogolla is a fictionalized biopic based on the life of the dessert pioneer Nabin Chandra Das in 19th century Calcutta. It features debutante Ujaan Ganguly in the lead role. Actress Subhashree Ganguly will be seen essaying the role of a courtesan. It is slated for a release on December 21, 2018. Which film are you more excited for?
