Kolkata, Sep 30 (UNI) Today is his birthday and his upcoming release ‘Gumnaami’ is going to hit the screen on 2nd October.
On the verge of his birthday, in a tete-a-tete with UNI exclusively, superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee reminisced his puja releases, childhood and growing year.
‘Gumnaami’ is yet to release and the film already created lots of positive buzzes and some negative buzz too. But the celebrated actor Chatterjee didn’t bother at all rather he found that the challenge lies in another side.
He said, “As an artist and a responsible human being I am pretty aware of what I have done. For me, it’s not a challenge to stop people to oppose but the biggest challenge was to believe in every perspective shown in the film. Because, if I can’t believe the thing I can’t act in the scene.” Chatterjee, who also is popularly known as ‘Industry’ added, “It is definitely painful for me that some people thought we tried to malign Netaji’s image, which is outright a misconception,” Chatterjee said.
Chatterjee, who is playing Netaji in the film also shared his fond childhood memories saying, “When I am in my early ages, I have been taught that Netaji is our ultimate hero as in school when we had observed Independence Day we have seen every time there was a picture of Netaji. Our parents told us every time about his dedication and bravery. Even my father also was fond of Netaji and in a series, he portrayed our National Hero.”
After portraying Lalan Fakir in Goutam Ghosh’s ‘Moner Manush’ this is the second consequence where Chatterjee questioned director that ‘Ami ki parbo?’ He further said, “When Srijit offered me the character, I was not sure either to accept or to refuse. This happened when Goutam da offered me Lalan but the situation was a bit better than as no one has seen Lalan but in case of Netaji, his image is embossed in every Indians heart. But I ceased to reject outright because I believe that no actors in the World will outright refuse to play Netaji. Then Srijit assured me that I can do justice with the character.”
The film helmed by Srijit Mukherji is waiting for a national release and all the allegations rose for the past couple of months doesn’t bother Prosenjit as he clarifies, “From the very childhood we have so many questions about Netaji’s disappearance but discourses were missing these days. If some people start discourse and raise questions again after seeing the film that will complement our effort. But I want to make it clear that ‘Gumnaami’ is not giving any verdict.”
