Director Mainak Bhaumik has completed the shoot of Goyenda Junior, in which Rwitobroto Mukherjee plays the titular role and Anusha Viswanathan plays the female lead. Mainak has introduced a new detective in the movie.
Rwitobroto, who has worked with the director in Generation Aami, is excited about the project. “The film is not only about a detective, it also traces Bikram’s (my character) crisis in life and how he deals with the hurdles that a 16-year-old faces. He is a sharp, witty boy, who is good in studies, loves to read crime thrillers, likes a girl in his class and it is by his sheer intelligence that he solves a crime. Even though he is like any boy his age, Bikram is a loner, having lost his parents at an early age. He stays with his uncle, who is a cop. It is his uncle who asks him to accompany him to work so that his mind gets diverted. And there, Bikram gets cracking on a case. It is not that he has a detective mind. The film is about a teenage guy and his problems; crime is a part of it,” said the actor.
Mainak, who feels Rwitobroto is one of the finest actors today, thought about casting him when he was penning the script. “When I was sketching the character of Goyenda Junior, I had Rwitobroto in mind. He has a spark in his eyes which is needed to play this character,” he told us.
Anusha, who too, has worked with Mainak in Generation Aami, had a blast working in the film. “We had so much fun on the sets,” the actress said.
