Khoka is a dark, bloody character: Anirban on playing a hardcore villain in ‘Dwitiyo Purush’

    Jan 21, 2020 Publication : timesofindia

The biggest surprise of Srijit Mukherji’s January 23 release ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ is the rough look of Anirban Bhattacharya and Rwitobroto Mukherjee. Srijit is well aware of the supreme talent Anirban has and he has continuously utilized it in his last few films.

In ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ again he uses Anirban in a never before seen avatar. He has surprised everyone with his new look of Khoka, who is synonymous to violence.

While speaking about his character in the upcoming thriller, Abirban revealed how he slipped into the character effortlessly.

“In Khoka, you won’t see any grey zone. He is a completely dark, bloody character, a hardcore villain. I have done six films with Srijitda thill now… and believe me I have given everything to slip into Khoka’s character. I even had to gain some weight to play this character. See, I have seen many dark characters in my life and the language you hear from Khoka comes from them. When I had moved to Kolkata for the first time, I used to stay in a place in Koley Market. In those days, it was pretty much rough,” said Anirban.

While the upcoming thriller will see Parambrata Chatterjee and Raima Sen reprising their roles, Anirban Bhattacharya, Rwitobroto Mukherjee and Gaurav Chakrabarty are the new joiners in the ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ cast.

The story of ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ will commence from where ‘Baishe Srabon’ had left off and will see Parambrata reprise the role of chief detective Abhijit Pakrashi and Raima Sen bring back her character, Amrita. Produced by SVF, it’s slated for a January 23 release.
