Srijit Mukherji’s adventure film Kakababur Protyabortan, the official poster of which was unveiled on Thursday, is set to be released on Christmas.
The film is the third instalment of the Kakababu franchise, which comprises Mishawr Rohoshyo (2013) and Yeti Obhijaan (2017).
Featuring Prosenjit Chatterjee as the iconic sleuth Kakababu aka Raja Roy Chowdhury and Aryann Bhowmick as his sidekick Shontu, the film is based on Sunil Ganguly’s story Jongoler Moddhe Ek Hotel.
Mukherji said the film is an adventure that sees Kakababu and Shontu in the jungles of Africa. Thrills ensue before the sleuths begin their trip to the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya. “Alongside the story, the USP of Kakababur Protyaborton is the amazing locations on which the film has been shot,” said Mukherji.
In the poster, Kakababu and Shontu can be seen against the backdrop of tropical grassland, with a Cheetah howling behind them and a lion’s face reflected on the wing mirror of a car. The dazzling sun and dusty colour tone of the poster transport the viewer to the continent.
“I am sure the audience will get to witness the extravaganza of Africa’s wildlife through this film. All the films of Kakababu are very close to my heart and its always a pleasure to work with Bumba-da [Chatterjee]. I am extremely thankful to the entire cast and crew of Kakababu for being so supportive throughout,” said the director.
Speaking about the shooting experience, Mukherji commented, “Although we had challenges filming wild animals, there was no pressure shooting this film at all as we had tremendous fun on the sets while experiencing the beauty of Africa’s jungles!”
A few days ago, the first look poster of Mukherji’s upcoming web-series Feluda Pherot created a buzz. Anirban Chakrabarti, who is playing Jatayu, Feluda’s author companion in the series, will have a crucial role to play in Kakababur Protyabortan as well.
The poster of the film was shared by SVF Entertainment Pvt Ltd on Twitter with the caption: “Ei Borodine Africar Raja ke tekka dite aschhe amader Raja Roy Chowdhury [This Chrishmas, our Raja Chowdhury is all set to go toe to toe with the king of Africa].”
