Hoichoi recently dropped the official trailer of season four of Eken Babu. The Bengali-language web series will be available for streaming from October 2, 2020.
Starring Anirban Chakrabarti as Ekendra Sen, popularly known as Eken Babu, it is a comedy-detective web series based on Sujan Dasgupta’s fictional detective stories.
This time around, the Hoichoi original series will concern itself with the mystery of Burman House (Burman Barir Rahasya). Set in Murshidabad, Anuradha Mukherjee, Kaushik Chatterjee, Kaushiki Guha, Debopriyo Mukherjee, Chitrabhanu Basu, Kinjal Nanda, and Sohini Banerjee are all set to join as the supporting cast.
The trailer starts on quite a funny note where the character of Anuradha Mukherjee exclaims that her friend’s home – Burman House – has historical ties with Siraj ud-Daulah. But the foodie in Eken Babu is quick to misunderstand it for Shiraz’s biryani (the famous Park Street haunt in Kolkata).
And thus starts the rollicking journey filled with food, mystery, fun, drama, death, and laughter, necessarily in that order. After all, Eken Babu is anything but your usual detective.
This time its some kind of an ancestral mystery where a suicide takes place at Burman House, or was it murder? Eken Babu has to solve it before more untoward things happen.
The web series debuted with a ten-episode first season on March 10, 2018. The second season followed soon after in November of the same year with six episodes. Both the seasons were set in Bengaluru.
The five-episode third season came a year after that and was based in Dhaka, where while attending a literary meet Eken Babu gets involved in a case.
The official trailer promises a laugh riot in the form of a spellbinding mystery but viewers are definitely going to miss the camaraderie between had Eken, Baapi (Shoumo Banerjee), and Promotho (Debapriyo Bagchi). The first three seasons displayed a strong, yet quirky bond between the trio.
Hoichoi is a Bengali-language streaming platform which has given a number of excellent original series and films like Byomkesh, Detective, Paap, and Tasher Ghawr.
