Ever since Srijit Mukherji announced his dream project ‘Gumnaami’, a film based on Gumnami Baba, the thriller has been in the center of controversy. Even Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s grand nephew Chandra Kumar Bose took a dig at the national award winning director in public.
Not only that, director Aniket Chattopadhyay in his series of Facebook posts continues to take a dig at the Gumnaami baba – the godman who has been rumoured to be Netaji.
However, it didn’t dump Srijit’s spirit and he insisted time and again the film will be made despite all the odds and criticisms.
And on Monday, the ‘Vinci Da’ director took to his Twitter handle to share a picture with Prosenjit Chatterjee announcing the Tolly superstar has completed the dubbing session for ‘Gumnaami’.
“@prosenjitbumba completes his dubbing for #Gumnaami. See you this Puja, possibly, hold your breath, on Gandhi Jayanti,” wrote Srijit.
In reply, Prosenjit tweeted: “Yes #Gumnaami dubbing done ..thanks @srijitspeaketh for your love and support..Releasing this Puja..bless us ..as always.”
The upcoming thriller is set to explore the myth of the mysterious sadhu often addressed as Gumnaami Baba and Prosenjit Chatterjee will be seen in the titular role.
There are so many rumors and conspiracy theories on Netaji’s return to India after his supposed death in Taihoku plane crash. Srijit’s upcoming film’s plot is one of those rumours which apparently set the crux of the film. The film draws inspiration from Anuj Dhar and Chandrachur Ghosh’s book ‘CONUNDRUM, Subhas Bose’s Life After Death’.
Produced by SVF, ‘Gumnaami’ is set to release this Puja.
