Dwitiyo Purush, which is having a digital premiere before TV, will be streaming on Hoichoi from March 20. “This film is close to my heart as it’s my first sequel. 22shey Srabon made me who I am, and I wanted to take the legacy further. Though Dwitiyo Purush recently completed 50 days in the theatres, we realised after the Covid-19 outbreak and movie halls being shut down, the film will not see the light of 100 days. At this time, a digital premiere will help people to watch the film sitting at home, on a preferred device of their choice. This is not only for people who missed the movie in Calcutta or rest of India but also for people from across the world. At this stage of quarantine, or work- from-home situation, to get entertainment at the palm of your hands is truly a blessing and I am happy my film got a worldwide platform like Hoichoi which has a number of my other films as well,” said Srijit.
“We recently celebrated 50 days when the situation in India hadn’t worsened that much. Glad to hear that Hoichoi will be giving our film a digital premiere as in times like this it’s important for people to go on with their daily lives as much as possible from home, which includes the basic form of entertainment,” said Parambrata.
Team Dwitiyo Purush got together recently at INOX, Hiland Park, to mark 50 days of the Srijit Mukherji thriller at the box office. The film completed 50 days at the box office on March 13. Srijit said: “Just like 22shey Srabon, Dwitiyo Purush got a superb response at the box office from Day One and gave multiple houseful shows.”
Dwitiyo Purush gave a very good starting for 2020, adds Ujjal Biswas, programming executive, PVR Cinema. “From the very first day the occupancy was 80-90 per cent. Word-of-mouth helped a lot in its success. Regional films like these are very important as such films help in national representation. The film ran so successfully because first of all it is made by Srijit, the storyline is good and for Khoka’s (Anirban Bhattacharya) character,” said Ujjal Biswas. “Srijit’s film got the attention of both critics and the audience. The characters of the story were very well etched out and portrayed and that really clicked with the audience. Srijit has been giving us hits since Autograph. He has the formula for a box-office success,” said Navin Choukhani, owner of Navina Cinema.
