The Biggest Opener and the highest grossing film of 2019 Durgeshgorer Guptodhon completed 50 glorious days at the Box Office today.
The film had released across India on 24th May 2019 and since then has been going strong, witnessing multiple housefull shows across theatres becoming the highest grossing film this year. The film which entered its 8th week today has seen housefull shows at multiplexes like Cinepolis Acropolis Mall, PVR Diamond City, Inox South City, Inox Highland Park and single screens like Star Theatre and Nandan even in its seventh week.
With Durgeshgorer Guptodhon, Dhrubo Banerjee took the Bengali audience through an exciting treasure quest with ounces of adventure and a dash of Bangaliana. Sequel to the superhit Guptodhoner Sondhane, the films sees the suave Professor from Oxford Subarno Sen aka Sona Da (Abir Chatterjee) return for a second treasure hunt adventure and this time he visits one of his student’s ancestral home along with his favourites Aabir (Arjun Chakraborty) and Jhinuk ( Ishaa Saha). The great grandfather of this student was an erstwhile zamindar and a renowned artist of Bengal. There is a myth that runs in the family that they had once received a massive treasure, but all traces and trails of it had been lost. Sona’da along with Abir and Jhinuk join a festivity in that mansion in Durgeshgor and stumble upon the lost clues that may lead them in unearthing one of the greatest treasures of Bengal!
Delighted about this milestone achievement, lead actor Abir Chatterjee goes on to say: “Durgeshgorer Guptodhon got a phenomenal response at the Box Office from day one and since then the film has been giving multiple Housefull shows every week. I’m touched how the audience has embraced the film and my character Sona Da”
Overwhelmed with the film’s success, director Dhrubo Banerjee goes on say:” I cannot thank the audience enough for the love and support they have showered upon my film. I’m humbled to see how young and old alike are still running to the theatres in the 7th week to watch the film. This is a big win for the Bengali film industry!”
Directed by Dhrubo Banerjee, the film also stars Anindya Chatterjee, Kharaj Mukherjee, Koushik Sen, Lily Chakraborty, Aryann Bhowmick, June Maliah, Debjani Chatterjee, Arindam Sil, Kamaleswar Mukherjee in pivotal roles and the surreal music has been composed by acclaimed musician Bickram Ghosh.
