After Durgeshgorer Guptodhon, Dhrubo Banerjee is all set to direct another thriller featuring Abir Chatterjee. “It’s a thriller, but the script is not yet complete. Padmanabha Dasgupta and his team are working on it. The shoot is from September. But I can’t disclose the story now. I had a talk with Abir to play the lead and the female lead will be locked once the script is ready,” the director said. When we asked him if Mimi Chakraborty or Nusrat Jahan would be playing the female lead, he said, “I really don’t know. I can only say that after the script is ready.”
We hear the story is about what happens when a group of people gets marooned on an island, but the director is hell bent on not sharing details of the story at this moment. “You can’t disclose the story of a thriller,” said Dhrubo with a smile, adding, “Whether we will shoot in Kolkata or elsewhere will be decided once the script is ready.”
Dhrubo’s first film, Guptodhoner Sondhane, made the character, Sonada, played by Abir, very popular. And this year, the film’s sequel, Durgeshgorer Guptodhon, was also praised by all. The film revolves around the adventures of Sonada, aka history professor Subarna Sen, Abir (Arjun Chakrabarty) and Jhinuk (Ishaa Saha), after they decide to visit the ancestral home of one of Sonada’s students in Durgeshgor. The great grandfather of this student was an erstwhile zamindar and a renowned artist of Bengal. There is a myth that runs in the family that they had once received a massive treasure, but all traces of it had been lost. Sonada along with Abir and Jhinuk join the Puja festivities in the mansion in Durgeshgor and stumble upon the lost clues that lead them to one of the greatest treasures of Bengal.
