In Birsa Dasgupta’s ‘Crisscross’ Mimi Chakraborty plays an ambitious photojournalist, Ira who finds it difficult to maintain the balance between her professional and personal life. It’s completely different from the other characters Mimi has enacted thus far.
“I play Ira in this film. She works as a photojournalist for a leading daily. She is an independent woman and gives priority to her career. But, somewhere in her personal life, Ira is an emotional human being. She fails to maintain the balance between professional and personal life. This is so relatable for the working ladies today. Family life gets victimized due to professional liabilities. Ira finally learns what should be her priority in life. That’s what my character is all about,” the actress said during a recent interview.
Based on Smaranjit Chakraborty’s novel, the movie also stars Priyanka Sarkar, Jaya Ahsan, Sohini Sarkar, Nusrat Jahan in lead roles. Initially, Birsa’s close friend, Swastika Mukherjee was also a part of ‘Crisscross’, but backed out later as she thought the character she was offered to play seemed shallow.
