Jaya Ahsan plays a successful businesswoman Miss Sen in Birsa Dasgupta’s recently released ‘Crisscross’. Her flawless portrayal as an independent lady is winning many a million hearts. But, do you know it was Swastika Mukherjee who was supposed to play the character Jaya is essaying out in this social drama? Swastika turned down the offer because she wasn’t convinced about the character.
However, the Bangladeshi actress says she didn’t hesitate in accepting the role which was rejected by a popular actor. “See, when I received the offer, the character had already undergone few changes and after reading the script I felt it’s convincing. The actress who rejected the role earlier is a senior one and one of my favourites. Maybe she didn’t like the role, it happens. But that doesn’t stop me from accepting the role of Miss Sen,” said Jaya.
Five women grapple with completely different challenges in Birsa Dasgupta’s ‘Crisscross’. It explores womanhood against an urban backdrop. Produced by SVF, the social drama is an adaptation of writer Smaranjit Chakraborty’s popular novel of the same name.
