With Christmas less than a month away, cake-mixing ceremonies across the city have already set the perfect mood for festivities. A host of celebs from film and music fraternity have been spotted at various cafes, hotels and patisseries across the city, taking part in the cakemixing fun.
Apart from them, a few members from the city’s consulates have also attended the do.
Considered to be an occasion of merriment, the Christmas cake mixing process also has a religious significance.
It is considered to bring in good luck, joy and happy tidings.
Each ceremony begins with the mixing of various delicious ingredients like nuts, raisins, almonds, figs, prunes, spices, glazed cherries, tutti fruties and more. Then various fruit juices and flavoured syrups and spirits like rum, whiskey, brandy and wine are added to the mixture.
Actor Abir Chatterjee, who was spotted at more than one cake-mixing ceremonies this year, said, “One cannot just say no to a Christmas cake. It’s so delicious that I end up eating a generous amount of cake during this time. Cake-mixing ceremonies are joyful events as they kick-start the Christmas fervour in the city.”
