Not many know that the entire unit of Dhrubo Banerjee’s film, Durgeshgorer Guptodhon, are big foodies. “After each day’s shoot, we used to do shot division for the next day’s shoot. And just after that, there used to be a meeting on what would be the menu the next day. And the man behind all this used to be my DoP — Soumik Haldar. He is a big foodie. Soumik and I used to plan the menu. We don’t even remember how many types of non-veg dishes used to be there in the lunch and dinner menu. And the sweets which you get at Jhargram are to die for,” said the director.
He added, “In real life, Arjun is not a foodie at all but his character demands it to be so. Ishaa loves to eat though she is conscious. Both Abir and Anindya love good food. So, there was lot of ‘food bonding’ among the cast and crew.”
After the massive success of the first treasure hunt venture Guptodhoner Sondhane, Dhrubo Banerjee’s second installment of this series is called Durgeshgorer Guptodhon.
Professor Subarna Sen, aka Sonada (Abir), a professor of history, along with Abir (Arjun) and Jhinuk (Ishaa) decide to visit one of Sonada’s student’s ancestral mansion at Durgeshgor. The great grandfather of this student was an erstwhile zamindar and a renowned artist of Bengal. There is a myth that runs in the family that they had once received a massive treasure, but all traces of it had been lost. Sonada, along with Abir and Jhinuk, join a festivity in the mansion in Durgeshgor and stumble upon the lost clues that may lead them in unearthing one of the greatest treasures of Bengal.
