Director Arindam Sil is all set to bring Bengal’s fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi, created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay, to the big screen again. The title of the film is Byomkesh-Hatyamancha. Abir Chatterjee is pulling off the quick-witted Byomkesh Bakshi again and Sohini Sarkar is returning as the quintessential Satyabati, the significant life partner of the sleuth hound. The film’s story, which is inspired by an incomplete Byomkesh story Bishupal Bodh, has been further written by the director and writer Padmanabha Dasgupta for the film. It will mark Arindam’s fourth Byomkesh directorial.
For the first time, Paoli Dam will be seen in a Byomkesh film. She portrays the role of Sulochona and plays the character of Draupadi in a theatrical troupe. Suhotra Mukhopadhyay will be seen portraying the character of Byomkesh’s iconic confidant and writer Ajit. Kinjal Nanda will be portraying the character of Bishu Pal who is a part of a theatrical troupe in the film. He plays the director of the play and enacts the role of Bhim for his theatre group. Arna Mukhopadhyay is stepping in the shoes of Braja Dulal, Arna is also a part of the same theatre group as Bishu Pal. He will be seen as Kichok, who is also a director– actor. Anusha Vishwanathan will be seen as a cabaret dancer, named, Somaria in this film.
Arindam said, “This fourth Byomkesh directorial is a different equation to solve. The additional details which have been put in an already monumental inscription is very minutely thought-out. We hope the audience will shower the same appreciation that we received for my previous Byomkesh journey.”
The music for the film will be scored by Bickram Ghosh.
