The poster for Arindam Sil’s Byomkesh Hotyamancha based on Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s incomplete story is out now. Abir Chatterjee is pulling off the quick-witted Byomkesh Bakshi again, and so is Sohini Sarkar returning as the quintessential Satyabati, the significant other of the sleuth hound. The film narrates the 1971’s Naxalite insurgency when Byomkesh decides to attend a play at the theatre and becomes witness to a crime unfolding on the centre stage. Along with Abir Chatterjee and Sohini Sarkar, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay will be seen portraying the character of Byomkesh’s iconic confidant and writer Ajit. Paoli Dam will be seen in an integral role along with Kinjal, Arna Mukhopadhyay. And how the mystery is laid bare for Byomkesh to solve.
The music for the film will be scored by Bickram Ghosh.
Director Arindam Sil, positive about the casting of the film, goes says, “Byomkesh Hotyamancha has the most phenomenal cast that any Byomkesh film has ever witnessed. With my new Byomkesh film, I am looking forward to showcasing both political and cultural commentary on Bengal of 1971. This will be the most intriguing film in the entire Byomkesh series.”
