The film, inspired by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s Rakter Daag, is due to be released during the Durga Puja festival.
Actor-turned-director Arindam Sil will start shooting his next project, Byomkesh Gowtro, on 6 June.

The story begins when Satyakam, son of a business magnet from Landour, Mussoorie visits Byomkesh at his Kolkata home. He feels that his life is in danger and offers the private investigator a hefty amount to look into the matter.
As Byomkesh reaches Mussoorie, he learns that young Satyakam has indeed been murdered. The rest of the film follows the detective as he gets to the bottom of the crime.
The most interesting aspect of the film is its star-cast, ranging from newcomers to veterans. “Byomkesh Gowtro has the most phenomenal cast that any Byomkesh film has ever witnessed. Abir Chatterjee will be seen in a never seen before avatar. This will be the most intriguing film in the entire Byomkesh series,” commented the director.
Actor Abir Chatterjee will be seen playing Satyanweshi Byomkesh for the third time in Sil’s film, after Har Har Byomkesh (2015) and Byomkesh Parbo (2016).
Veteran actor-director Anjan Dutt, who has himself directed films on Satyanweshi, will feature in an important role in Byomkesh Gowtro. While Sohini Sarkar, like in all of Sil’s previous Byomkesh films, will play Satyabati.
Rahul Banerjee has been roped in to essay the role of Ajit, the writer and constant companion of Byomkesh in his investigations.
Young actor Arjun Chakraborty, too, will be seen in an new avatar in the film. He will etch out the crucial character of wealthy casanova Satyakam.
Priyanka Sarkar, Baisakhi Marjit, Harsh Chhaya, Sauraseni Maitra, Indrasish Roy and Anindita Bose will be seen in the film as well.
Television actress Bibriti Chatterjee will be making her film debut with the thriller and Sil himself will play a small part in the film.
While the film’s music will be composed by Bickram Ghosh, its costumes will be fashioned by designer Abhishek Roy.
