Anirban Bhattacharya kick-starts ‘Ballavpurer Roopkatha’ shooting

Source : surl.li/cfifuAnirban Bhattacharya, who floored everyone with his directorial debut, the super hit web series ‘Mandaar’, is now ready to try his hands in feature films. On Tuesday, the versatile actor kick-started the shoot of his first film as a director ‘Ballavpurer Roopkatha‘ which is a quirky horror-comedy revolving around the eccentric story of Ballavpur Rajbari’s last descendant.
The film is largely based on Badal Sarkar’s popular drama by the same name. While the music of the film will be composed by Subhadeep Guha and Debraj Bhattacharya, the screenplay is by Anirban himself and Prateek Dutta. Meanwhile, the cinematography is by Soumik Halder.The plot follows an almost crumbling Rajbari of Ballavpur wherein only two people live – the last descendant of the Ray dynasty – Bhupati Ray and his menial Manohar.The ’Dynasty’ has almost nothing left to talk about since there is no wealth except the ruins. Both the dwellers are struggling with heavy debts and feel hopeless. However, things change one day when they get an offer to sell the property. What happens next is a series of hilarious actions and reactions by Bhupati Ray, Manohar, the buyers and interestingly one ghost that turns Ballavpur Rajbari into a total mess in one single night!
Excited about bringing the movie to the audience, Anirban had earlier said, “I have always been extremely fond of horror comedies and satires and we are lucky to see some great horror comedies from ace filmmakers over the years.”
He further added, “This particular genre has attracted many Bengali filmmakers earlier as there have been films that experimented with horror and comedy in the same story. But the number is quite less. What I can tell is ‘Ballavpurer Roopkotha’ will be light-hearted and at the same time loaded with plenty of surprises.”
Meanwhile, there hasn’t been any announcement regarding the cast of this film as Anirban wants to keep the surprise intact.
