There’s no stopping Abir Chatterjee. After delivering a superhit with Guptodhoner Sondhane, the actor has delivered yet another hit, Bidaay Byomkesh. The film, an original story on the iconic Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi for the first time, has generated a lot of anticipation among the movie buffs. The thriller sees Abir Chatterjee in a double role. An octogenarian Byomkesh is on a mission to prove his son’s innocence. His grandson Satyaki plays his sidekick to discover the truth about his father’s disappearance. The movie is being lapped up by the audience and the interesting storyline makes Debaloy Bhattacharya’s film, a must-watch. But comparisons are rife with the original Byomkesh series.
On the film’s success, Abir said, “There’s no space for comparison when it comes to Bidaay Byomkesh and the Byomkesh series. But yes, I’m loving the conversation. We had communicated to the audience that Bidaay Byomkesh is a spin-off and not a part of the original Byomkesh franchise. This one delves into Byomkesh’s interpersonal relationships, a mysterious crime and a personal crisis attached to it.”
Abir is happy that the film is being appreciated by the audience, especially senior citizens. “We attempted to do something new and audacious and it feels great to see the amazing response. Although many are saying the makeup could have been better but the takeaway is what the box office shows,’ he said.
